Suburban Adventure Racing

Suburban Adventure Racing is back!

Following a fantastic return in 2024/25, we’re excited to announce the 2025/26 Suburban Adventure Racing (SAR) Series – with 10 events planned across Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs, running every second Tuesday from 14 October 2025 to 24 March 2026. The series will be run by 1st Heatherdale Scout Group.

What is Adventure Racing

Suburban Adventure Racing is a fun, inclusive navigation sport inspired by rogaining. Using a map, participants search for checkpoints hidden around suburban streets and parklands, aiming to collect as many as possible within 60 minutes.

It’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels – you can walk, jog, or run at your own pace, enter solo or as a team, and even bring along prams or the family dog.

Events use RFID finger scanners for quick results, and our friendly volunteers are always on hand to explain the rules and offer tips for first-timers.

Event Format

• Duration: 60 minutes (penalties apply for late finishes)

• Start Window: 6:00pm – 7:00pm (course closes 8:00pm)

• Distance: Approx. 6–7 km to collect all checkpoints

• Entry Fee: $5 per participant (Scout Leaders & adult helpers free). You can pay with cash or card.

• Series Pass: $40 (20% discount – entry to all 10 events for the price of 8)

• Includes: Map, RFID scanner, training, printed results, and a free Zooper Dooper

28 Jan 2025 - Schwerkolt Cottage (Deep Creek Road, Mitcham)

10 Feb 2025 - Heaney Park Scout Group (Heany Park, off Golding Avenue, Rowville)

24 Feb 2025 - 2nd Glen Waverley Scout Group (Napier Park, 998 High Street Road, Glen Waverley)

10 Mar 2025 - 3rd Doncaster East Scout Group (Cnr Blackburn Road & Saxonwood Drive, Doncaster East)

24 Mar 2025 - 1st Nunawading Scout Group (5 Mark Place, Nunawading)

Food & Fundraising

Each event will feature a BBQ fundraiser hosted by the local Scout Group. Sausages in bread and cold drinks will be available, with all proceeds supporting the hosting Scouting Group.
